I attended the ACM Multimedia Systems Conference (MMSys 2017) on 20-23 June, 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan. The conference focused on multimedia systems providing a unique opportunity to view the intersections and the inter-play of various approaches and solutions developed across all domains dealing with multimedia data types.

My paper presentation was titled “A Measurement Study on Achieving Imperceptible Latency in Mobile Cloud Gaming”. The paper includes comprehensive end-to-end results for latency measurements in mobile cloud gaming. The paper will be a vital part of my dissertation.

The conference presentations covered a wide range of topics highly related towards my studies. Augmented reality, 360 degree videos and video analytics were the most popular topics this year. There were a lot of keynote, industrial and overview talks spread over the conference with some excellent speakers. I particularly enjoyed Henry Fuchs’ views on the current AR/VR renaissance.

I also had some time to visit the city during my stay. I visited the supertall skyscraper Taipei 101 and the local night markets.
